POSM vCam sewer inspection software

Professional Sewer Inspection Data From a Vivax Push Camera

Turn push-camera video into organized inspection records for larger sewer, utility and GIS workflows.

Compatible With: Vivax

More Than Push-Camera Video

POSM vCam is an upgraded version of POSM Portable designed to work with the Vivax vCam push camera overlay and footage counter. It brings many of the structured inspection capabilities of a larger inspection system to a portable push-camera workflow.

A standard push camera may be all that is needed when the goal is simply to record video or capture a few images. POSM vCam is designed for projects where that inspection needs to become part of a larger data workflow—with footage, observations, video and inspection information organized so the results can be reviewed, transferred and used beyond the field.

Built for Cross-Bore and Large Utility Inspection Projects

One of the original needs behind POSM vCam came from large cross-bore inspection projects. A cross bore can occur when another utility, such as a gas line, intersects an existing sewer or lateral. Locating and documenting these conditions can require inspection of both sewer mains and the laterals connected to them.

Mainline inspection equipment with lateral-launch capability can inspect from the sewer main toward a property, but some laterals cannot be completely inspected from the mainline. In those situations, crews may need to approach the lateral from a cleanout, building or other available access point using a push camera.

POSM vCam gives that push-camera crew a structured inspection workflow so the additional inspection can become part of the same larger project instead of existing only as an isolated video file.

Pre-Inspection and Post-Inspection Documentation

Large utility projects may require sewer laterals to be inspected before utility construction and inspected again afterward. The pre-inspection documents existing conditions. The post-inspection helps document the completed work and identify potential utility conflicts or cross bores.

Instead of producing disconnected video files from these inspections, POSM vCam helps crews create consistent inspection records that can be incorporated into the project's broader sewer inspection and GIS data.

Footage, Observations and Video Stay Together

One of the key benefits of the POSM vCam overlay is automation. POSM records inspection information while working with the vCam footage counter and places useful information directly into the inspection workflow and video.

When an operator adds an observation, the corresponding footage and inspection information make it easier for reviewers and repair crews to return to important locations in the video. POSM also enhances text-to-screen observations, helping connect what the operator saw in the field with the resulting inspection record.

Create Lateral Inspection Data for Larger Systems

POSM vCam can be used to create structured lateral inspection records, including NASSCO LACP inspections, instead of treating push-camera footage as a standalone video.

This is especially valuable to contractors and municipalities managing large inspection programs. Inspection information can move into broader POSM, sewer asset management and GIS workflows so push-camera inspections can be associated with the same infrastructure being managed across the rest of the project.

When Do You Need POSM vCam?

If you only need to push a camera through a pipe and save a video to an SD card, a standard push-camera workflow may be all you need.

POSM vCam becomes valuable when the inspection is part of a larger operation—especially when multiple crews, contractors, municipalities, utilities or GIS systems need to work with the resulting information.

The goal is a fluid workflow from field inspection → observations → video → structured inspection data → office or GIS system, without requiring crews to manually reconstruct the inspection afterward.
