Choosing the right computer and video capture hardware helps ensure reliable performance and a better overall POSM experience.

POSM can run on many Windows-based computers, but customers purchasing or configuring a new inspection system should follow the recommended specifications below whenever possible. Minimum requirements are also provided for customers evaluating an existing computer.

Video capture hardware can vary depending on the inspection camera system being used. Because available capture devices change over time, POSM recommends verifying current hardware compatibility before purchasing a new HD or 4K capture device.

Minimum Requirements

Use these specifications when evaluating an existing computer for POSM.

• Operating System: Windows 11 or Windows 10.
  Windows XP and Windows 7 are no longer supported.
• Memory: Minimum 4GB RAM.
• Storage: SATA II minimum. A solid-state drive is strongly recommended.
• CPU: Intel Core i5 or better.
• Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 or higher.

Analog Inspection Systems

POSM recommends the Sensoray USB Video Encoder for analog video capture.

HD Digital Inspection Systems

Use a reliable Windows-compatible 1080p HD capture device. Recommended models may change based on product availability and testing, so customers purchasing a new capture device should contact POSM Software for the current recommendation.

4K Capture Devices

Some 4K capture cards may have compatibility issues with POSM. Before purchasing a 4K capture device, please verify compatibility with POSM Support.
