Starting 2024 with the POSM Community
As we begin 2024, we want to thank our customers, partners, and inspection professionals who continue to help shape POSM Software. Customer feedback remains an important part of how we improve our products, expand integrations, and develop tools for collecting, managing, reviewing, and sharing sewer inspection data.
This January newsletter highlights several of the areas receiving attention across the POSM ecosystem, including inspection software, GIS and mapping, browser-based access, reporting, artificial intelligence, hardware integration, training, and technical support.
Continuing to Improve the POSM Workflow
POSM continues to develop its software around a straightforward goal: make sewer inspection data easier to collect in the field and easier to use once the inspection is complete.
- Inspection Software: Ongoing enhancements to POSM Professional, Lite, and other inspection applications continue to focus on performance, usability, data capture, and efficient inspection workflows.
- Office Software: POSM continues to improve the tools customers use to review, edit, store, report, and manage completed inspection data.
- GIS & Mapping: MapReader and ArcGIS-based workflows continue to connect sewer inspection activities with the asset information organizations already maintain in GIS.
- Reporting & Data Exchange: Reporting templates and data-export workflows continue to evolve based on customer needs and the growing importance of making inspection information accessible outside the inspection truck.
Exploring AI for Sewer Condition Assessment

Artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly important part of sewer condition assessment. POSM continues to explore how AI technologies such as Dragonfly can complement traditional inspection workflows by helping process CCTV footage and turn inspection video into useful condition information.
Our goal is to make emerging technologies useful within the existing POSM workflow rather than forcing inspection professionals to manage disconnected systems and data.
Expanding Browser-Based Access with POSM Web

POSM Web extends access to inspection information beyond traditional desktop software by allowing users to work with POSM inspection data through a web browser.
Browser-based tools give organizations more flexibility in how inspection information is reviewed and shared, while continuing to build on the data and workflows already used throughout the POSM environment.
Modernizing POSM Inspection Reports

Inspection reports are one of the most important ways POSM data reaches engineers, municipalities, contractors, and asset managers. Continued work on HTML5-based reporting helps make inspection information easier to view using modern web browsers and across a wider range of devices.
POSM continues to refine report presentation and data-export tools so completed inspection information can move more easily from field collection into review, planning, and long-term asset management.
Connecting Inspections and GIS with MapReader

GIS continues to play a larger role in sewer inspection programs. POSM MapReader helps connect mapped infrastructure with inspection workflows so crews can work with asset information spatially instead of relying only on lists and manually entered IDs.
Continued development of MapReader and ArcGIS Online workflows is aimed at making it easier to locate assets, connect GIS information with POSM inspections, and return useful inspection information to mapping and asset-management environments.
Expanding Manhole Inspection Options

POSM also continues to support new approaches to manhole inspection through integration with Owl Vision Systems. These systems provide additional options for collecting manhole imagery and inspection information while working with POSM's manhole inspection software.
Combining purpose-built inspection hardware with POSM software gives customers more flexibility when building workflows for pipelines, laterals, manholes, and other infrastructure assets.
Training and Support Remain a Priority
Good software is only part of a successful inspection program. Operators also need to understand their equipment, inspection standards, software configuration, and the workflows their organization expects them to follow.
POSM continues to provide training, remote assistance, configuration help, project setup support, and guidance for system upgrades. Whether a customer is setting up a new inspection system or an experienced crew needs help with an existing workflow, our support team is here to help keep operations moving.
Looking Ahead in 2024
As 2024 gets underway, POSM will continue investing in software improvements, GIS connectivity, web-based access, reporting, hardware integration, AI, and the tools customers use to manage inspection information from the field through the office.
