April 2025 – POSM Software is proud to announce the release of POSM 11, fully certified by NASSCO to support the highly anticipated PACP Version 8 standard. As a long-time partner in the pipeline condition assessment industry, POSM is committed to ensuring inspectors, municipalities, and asset managers have the most up-to-date tools to meet evolving infrastructure evaluation standards.
What’s New in PACP Version 8?
The Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP), along with LACP for laterals and MACP for manholes, has received a major update for the first time since 2015. Developed by NASSCO’s Infrastructure Condition Assessment Committee and experts across the industry, PACP Version 8 incorporates nearly a decade of field recommendations and best practices. Key improvements include:
- Updated defect codes for better assessment of pressure pipes, including new codes, access points, and material types.
- Expanded use of modifiers for more accurate coding in force mains, pressure pipes, and post-rehabilitation surveys.
- New pipe use codes for perforated and non-sanitary systems, which are now reflected in the condition grading system.
- Enhanced grading scores to ensure clearer interpretation of asset condition for planning and asset management.
- New surface damage codes, including the SPP code for Surface Damage Pitting or Corrosion, and a new D modifier for deeper insights into SZ (Surface Damage Other) defects.
With the release of Version 8, NASSCO has officially sunset support for PACP Version 6 and earlier, making software compliance with the new standard essential for any organization performing condition assessments.
